游刃於紀實與劇情之間的導演劉吉雄，在影片中以植物重新探討「原生／外來」的定義。這些草木植物都是生活中最常見的，熟悉又靠近，但泰半我們叫不出它們的名字。短短的十五個段落，各自安上逗趣、充滿隱喻的標題；電影海報寫著「世界的草木沒有外來種。對草木來說，我們才是外來種」，一篇篇原鄉與流浪的植物故事，也為紛擾不已的台灣族群問題尋找藥方。
Composed of 15 shorts, the documentary proposes an alternative view to live with plants and nature. There is no "exotic" species for plants on earth. But, the human beings are the “very” exotic species to plants.
